The Pakistan Olympic Association has started holding accountable for the poor performance of the Pakistani squad in the Tokyo Olympics.


 According to details, Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, submitted a written reply to the National Assembly.


 Dr Fehmida Mirza said that the government has asked the President of the Olympic Association Lieutenant General (retd) Syed Arif Hassan to resign, however, the government does not want to interfere in the matter unnecessarily.


 He said that the Pakistani squad for the Tokyo Olympics included 10 athletes and 11 officials.


 The Federal Minister said that the Sports Board paid the travel, accommodation, uniforms and kits of 10 players and 3 officials.


 He said that the ministry was not informed about the performance of the players.


 Dr. Fehmida Mirza further said that the athletes were selected by the National Sports Federation and the Olympic Association, the government only acted as a facilitator.
